Biography-
Mohandas Gandhi is one of the most famous leader for justice in the world. His principles and firm believed in non-violence which inspired many people around the world. He was also called Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma means a great soul. He is also known as 'Gandhi'.
Where did Mohandas grow up?
Mohandas Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India on October 2, 1869. He came from an upper-class family and his father was a leader in the local community. According to the tradition where he grew up, Mohandas' parents had a held a marriage for Mohandas at the age of 13.
Mohandas' parents wanted him to be a barrister, which is a type of a lawyer. When he was 19 years old Mohandas travelled to England to study for a law. After 3 years he came back to India and started his own practice. Unfortunately, his law practice wasn't successful, so he took a job with Indian Law firm and moved to South Africa. It was is South Africa where Gandhi would experience racism prejudice and would start to work in civil rights.
What did Gandhi do?
Once he was back in India, Gandhi led fight with British empire. He organized several non-violence campaigns. These campaigns would protest for everybody's rights.
Gandhi was put in prison for several time for conducting these protests were sometimes he would often fast (not to eat). The British government would have to free him because the Indian people had grown to love him.
One of the most successful protest was the Salt March when British had increased the salt taxes. Gandhi decided to walk 241 miles to the sea in Dandi to make his own salt. Thousands of Indian joined to his march.

How did Mohandas die?
Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948. He was shot by a terrorist while attending a prayer meeting.
